The Alexander Family: Busy February: Part 2

Our next event of February was a wonderful visit from Abbey and Warren (my sister and brother-n-law). They were so kind to spend their vacation coming to see us. We were in Yuma for 3 days and then we headed over to Mammoth Lakes, CA. We had been planning a ski trip before Matt and I got pregnant and so we decided to visit California so that we would be able to drive and see a different part of the country. On our way to Mammoth Lakes we drove through Joshua Tree National Park and saw some interesting trees, cactus, etc. We also drove past Mt. Whitney, which is the highest point in California. We had a GREAT time and Matt, Abbey and Warren were able to have some good skiing. Our second day there we received what seemed like tons of snow which made for some fun skiing. While we were there I got a VERY relaxing massage and was able to sleep as much as I wanted. Below are some pictures from the trip and they don't do justice to the fun we had!

Before we left Yuma Matt and Warren wanted to climb some mountains that are literally in our backyard.

It is amazing that we have these mountains to look at everyday!

Once we left Yuma our first stop was Joshua Tree National Park.

We saw some neat rock formations!

It was chilly and actually sleeted on us a little bit.

Our next stop was to see Mt. Whitney. We were on the eastern side of the mountain and access to the mountain is on the western side. We got some good pictures of the mountain on our way to Mammoth Lakes.

We arrived at Mammoth Lakes and saw snow!

On our last day in Mammoth Lakes we went to an area close to Mammoth Lakes that has a saltwater lake and crater formed from volcanic activity.

The rock like formations are called salt spires and are formed by the salt in the water. The lake has slowly been drained, but the original level was at least as high as the tallest salt spire.
